The emergence of a new luxury territory
Pets now occupy a central place in our homes. After decades in which pet care was a purely functional market, we’re now seeing the emergence of a “premium” offer. Since the early
This phenomenon was born in the fashion capitals of Paris, Milan and New York between 2018 and 2022. Today, this movement is redefining the boundaries of luxury and questioning the way we inhabit space with our four-legged companions.
When luxury embraces the animal kingdom
The global petcare market now exceeds $260 billion, with annual growth of 5-7%. Millennials and Generation Z consider their pets to be an integral part of their family. Social networks amplify this phenomenon: Instagram and TikTok abound with pet influencer accounts totaling millions of subscribers.
Luxury brands apply their aesthetic vocabulary – chic minimalism, baroque maximalism or heritage – to objects for animals. It’s a natural extension of their universe. The lines follow the tradition of each house. Hermès favors purity and sober geometry. Louis Vuitton multiplies monograms in a neo-Victorian aesthetic. Gucci plays the maximalist card with baroque prints. Zadig & Voltaire brings its rock spirit to bear with studded pieces and distressed leathers.
Exceptional signatures
Hermès : Nadège Vanhée-Cybulski
The artistic director oversees the house’s animal incursions. Her minimalist approach is reflected in the Chien collection launched in 2020: braided leather collars, leashes with palladium snap hooks, cashmere-lined waterproof coats.

An exceptional piece of pure design, where the saddlery expertise of the Parisian house meets the absolute comfort of the animal.
Louis Vuitton : Pharrell Williams
Since 2023, he has been infusing an unabashed vision of animal luxury. His first collection included Monogram canvas carrier bags and streetwear harnesses adorned with gold chains.
Gucci: Sabato De Sarno
The new creative director continues the maximalist heritage. His pet care collections blend the iconic GG motif, green-red-green web stripes and floral prints. Gucci transforms every utilitarian object into a statement piece.

The iconic Monogram is now part of everyday rituals, for uncompromising elegance.
Dior: Maria Grazia Chiuri
The artistic director deploys Dior DNA – cane, toile de Jouy, oblique – in seasonal capsule collections. Printed silk bandanas and signature quilted coats testify to a vision in which the animal is part of the aesthetic narrative.

Couture allure down to the smallest detail, for dogs with resolutely Parisian style.
Zadig & Voltaire : Cecilia Bönström
In 2024, the Swedish artistic director launched the “ZV Pets” collection. Her approach contrasts with the formalism of the historic houses: no ostentatious monograms but discreet rock details. Studded collars in distressed leather, harnesses in black coated canvas embellished with embroidered wings, pillows in washed linen dotted with silver studs. Zadig & Voltaire democratizes animal luxury with prices ranging from 120 to 450 euros, targeting an urban clientele that rejects ostentation while demanding quality.
Versace : Donatella Versace
The artistic director has embodied Italian opulence since 1997. Her Versace Home for Pets collection, launched in 2023, transposes the house’s baroque universe: gold Greca motif on black background, flamboyant Barocco prints, emblematic jellyfish. Patent leather collars, velvet-upholstered beds, porcelain bowls gilded in fine gold: Versace celebrates an assertive, almost theatrical luxury that appeals to a clientele in search of refined ostentation.

Couture allure down to the smallest detail, between technical protection and iconic fashion signature.

Hand-sewn by the leather goods artisans, this necklace comes in seven sizes and sells for between 350 and 650 euros. Its palladium-plated metal clasp echoes the codes of Hermès belt buckles.
Louis Vuitton Monogram carrying bag
This rigid carrier in coated canvas reproduces the iconic LV motif. It features brass air vents and a removable microfiber interior. It’s the most photographed item on Instagram in the pet luxury category.

The icon of travel revisited in a pet couture version, with its emblematic monogram and natural leather finishes.
The quilted Gucci coat
This down jacket for dogs is based on Gucci men’s down jackets. Black technical nylon, contrasting web stripes, embroidered logo.
The studded Zadig & Voltaire harness
Star of the ZV Pets collection, this black lambskin harness features a row of silver micro studs and two embroidered wings. Fully adjustable, lined in neoprene. Its rock-chic aesthetic appeals to a clientele that rejects bling-bling in favor of more subtle luxury.

The Parisian fashion house’s signature rock look is brought to the canine world with a piece of assertive character, between urban elegance and couture spirit.
Simple trend or not ?
Animal luxury is not just a passing fad, but an upheaval in the contemporary lifestyle landscape. It extends the centuries-old history of luxury brands, while at the same time bringing it into line with current societal changes. After home wear and sportswear, pet care is becoming the new territory of expression for luxury brands. The arrival of brands like Zadig & Voltaire proves that this movement goes beyond the very high-end to reach a wider public, without sacrificing aesthetic standards.
This movement remains unavoidable because it crystallizes our emotional relationship with animals and our irrepressible need for beauty in every aspect of our lives. Our four-legged companions now take center stage. And they do it with style.
